First Half Marathon!

Well we did it!

Three weeks ago after our "Extreme Fitness boot camp" we decided to give it a shot.
We spent a few weekday mornings running before the sun came up,
Saturday mornings again..running before the sun came up,
last Saturday we ran 10 1/2 miles but that was the furthest we've ran.

Friday night we got together and had some garlic biscuits, salad, chicken Alfredo pasta
& lots of water.

Race Day:
Julie picked me up around 4:30 and we headed on over to the race that was about an
hour away. Got there, picked up our packets and started getting the race jitters.

Every forecast said it was going to be rainy and upper 50's to 60's,
as the sun started to rise there wasn't a cloud in the sky. We couldn't have asked for  more perfect
race weather!

At opening Ceremonies they had a Chaplain say a prayer over our troops, deployed, injured,
stateside and their families, the racers and the race. Then there was a second grade class that presented small American flags to some Wounded Warriors on stage that would be hand-cycling the race while a song about thanking the Troops for their service played through out the stadium. It was a beautiful thing.

To be apart of such a great organization, among people who support the troops was wonderful.
We took off and before we knew it we started passing mile markers like crazy, we even kept a really good pace. At mile 6 we took the Rehydrate gel but didn't stop, no time to stop! There were people along the way holding signs, just watching, cheering you on & being friendly!

We crossed the finish line at 1:59:50,got finishers medals  and my sweet friend Leah was there to capture this moment for us so we could share it with our husbands!
Sorry the pictures are so big but they're blurry if not!

After the race we got to enjoy a delicious & nutritious meal at Red Robin with
Lydia and Katey Beth!

It was a great day and the best part was how proud I could tell Austin was in
his e-mails and how excited he was for me! He is the best husband,
perhaps we can run one again in October when he is home!
